Our Early Training Process

• Puppies are introduced to crates in short, positive sessions.
• We encourage puppies to enter the crate willingly using treats, toys, and praise.
• Puppies learn that the crate is a comfortable place for naps, quiet time, and bedtime.
• As they mature, we gradually increase the amount of time they spend resting comfortably in their crate.

Best Practices for Success

To continue crate training at home, we recommend:

• Make the crate comfortable with soft bedding and a safe chew toy.
• Feed meals or offer treats inside the crate to create positive associations.
• Allow your puppy to enter the crate voluntarily whenever possible.
• Start with short periods and gradually increase the duration as your puppy becomes comfortable.
• Take your puppy outside for a potty break immediately before and after crate time.
• Keep the crate near your family during the day and close to your bed at night during the first few weeks to help your puppy feel secure.
• Ensure the crate is only large enough for your puppy to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.

Avoid Common Mistakes

• Never use the crate as punishment.
• Avoid leaving young puppies in the crate longer than they can comfortably hold their bladder.
• Do not let your puppy out while they are actively barking or whining for attention. Instead, wait for a brief moment of calm so they learn that calm behavior earns freedom.
