House Training the Royal Schnauzers Way

At Royal Schnauzers, house training begins long before your puppy comes home. Our goal is to give every puppy a strong foundation that makes the transition into your home easier and more successful.

Our Early Training Process

• Weeks 3–4: Puppies begin following a structured daily routine of eating, playing, sleeping, and potty breaks.
• Around 4 weeks: Puppies are introduced to a designated litter box area, teaching them to separate their sleeping space from their potty area.
• 6 weeks and beyond: Puppies continue developing consistent potty habits while also beginning crate and doggie door training, weather permitting.

By the time your puppy joins your family, they already understand that pottying happens in a designated location—not where they eat or sleep.

Continuing Success at Home

Your puppy has received a head start, but successful house training depends on consistency after they arrive home.

We recommend:

• Follow a predictable daily schedule.
• Take your puppy outside first thing in the morning, after meals, naps, playtime, and before bedtime.
• Use the same potty location and cue words each time.
• Supervise closely indoors or use a properly sized crate when you cannot watch them.
• Praise immediately after every successful potty outdoors.
